More fungi……

More fungi……

I made some more variations on my Fungi beadweaving tutorial, so though I ought to share! This trio are based on the Ink Cap mushroom, and there are charts and instructions for using the tutorial methods to make these on p47. They’re mounted on a lovely wet felted pebble. This little one is actually not […]

Fungi Tutorial

Fungi Tutorial

Last Autumn I visited the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, and spent some time talking to the lovely Bev Caleno, a textile artist. I came away with a kit for a rock pool, which I’ve since made, but some of Bev’s other works with fabric fungi also intrigued me. When I made my […]

NEW TUTORIAL – Orbit

NEW TUTORIAL – Orbit

Orbit is a new tutorial, born from a pack of amazing intricately faceted hexagonal crystals from my regular supplier – I can’t resist trying new sparklies and a pack fell into my basket whilst I was restocking other lines. Absolute whoppers at 18mm across (21mm point to point) the colours and finishes were amazing, but […]

Knit & Stitch at Ally Pally 2024

Knit & Stitch at Ally Pally 2024

I had a lovely sunny day for a trip up to Ally Pally yesterday for the Knitting & Stitching Show.  It was mainly an inspiration trip, so I was pretty well behaved on the shopping front – getting there early allowed me to walk around all of the stands freely and make a list of […]

Beadwork Embroidery Inspiration Uncategorized
Cellini Rick Rack Ninja Star - my favourite pattern to make at this time of year, great as a gift and quite quick (for beading at least) if you use a casting model and/or the larger seized bead combo. Tutorial available in my Etsy and PayHip shops (links in bio). As a teeny business I may not really do Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but I do like to try to offer a discount in December as a seasonal gift to my lovely customers around the world. Please note that this only applies to Tutorials, but hopefully that will still keep most of you happy. All happening in my Etsy & PayHip shops, link in bio/comments and no code needed. #beadingtutorials #beadwork #sarahcryerbeadwork #beaddesigner #theindecisivebeader #beading Today I am mostly knitting and catching up on #gameofwool. I know some yarny people hate it but I like it and it’s got me knitting again for the first time in about 10 years, so that says something about whether it’s a good thing generally. I’m working with a gradient yarn (Sirdar Jewelspun with wool) and am mildly enraged by the factory joins being very annoying - here you can see the joined piece is the colour from 10 rows back, but don’t worry, I’ve sorted it by taking a chunk out of the ball until I’ve gotten to the ‘right’ place in the gradient again. Oh and by the way, the stitch is Fisherman’s Rib which looks amazing but is bloody slow going, and completely negates choosing a chunky yarn - epic fail there. So I’m out of practice at making good knitting decisions as well as the actual knitting, but at least it’s going to be gorgeous. And yes, I know this matches my current beadwork - serendipitous accident. Normal bead content will resume tomorrow. #sirdaryarn #chunkyknit #knitter #knitting Back on the fungi again - this set of Sulphur Tufts which I made whilst I was testing the tutorial have now had 90 degree bends added to their stalks. Hopefully that will allow them to be mounted on a vertical background as if they've grown (as in nature) from the cut end of a log, or a tree trunk, rather than my usual groups. The aim is to end up with the piece in a box frame. So far so good, but I need to get going on the background itself and look at the planned frame before I can decide if the group should grow from 5 to 7. If you'd like to learn how to make beadwoven fungi I have a tutorial available in my Etsy and Payhip shops (link in bio/comments) #beadweaving #beading #seedbeads #fungiofinstagram #beadingnature #sarahcryerbeadwork #theindecisivebeader It’s possible I may have broken my own rule about having too many projects on the go - I try to stick to one per medium for my own sanity and so something at least can be finished. Current tally is 3 bead embroidery, one beadweaving (good behaviour), two model rooms, one piece for our train layout and oops, three knitting projects for ‘relaxation’ (with yarn for one more purchased and then confiscated by me this afternoon). At least the key bead embroidery piece is going well and matches the main bit of knitting……….#worksinprogress #beadembroidery #sirdaryarns #sirdarjewelspun #beadwork. When you’re on a beading retreat with your best beading buddies so you have to wear ALL THE BEADED STUFF! Cactus pendant by our amazing leader @pinkhot_uk , Geo Bangle by fellow attendee and @zannahmakes and earrings and lady brooch by me. Breakfast now and then BEADING! Can you tell I’m quite excited? #retreat #beadweaving #beadingworks #beading #beadholiday #pinkhotbeaders With this many mushrooms on display it’s starting to look like we’ve got some kind of nasty but attractive damp problem. We haven’t, I just like beading them. Big, little, and in some cases repeatable using my Fungi tutorial, now available in my Etsy and PayHip shops (link in bio). #beadweaving #beadwork❤️ #beadwork #beading #miyukibeads #3dpeyote #beadingtutorial How many samples is too many samples? New fungi tutorial, hopefully launching soon…….#beadweaving #beading #beadwork #beadingtutorial #beadworktutorial #beaddesigner #miyukibeads #seedbeads Very small delivery of 18mm hexagon crystals for my Orbit tutorial today - available in my Etsy shop for delivery to the UK only. Apologies to overseas customers but there are too many reasons not to be able to post to too many of you at the moment and this is really quite a small batch - Orbit can also be made with other crystals such as 16mm or 20mm rivolis which should be easier for you to find locally.
